We are specifically looking to staff projects in the Jacksonville, Orlando, Tampa, Melbourne, and Palm Beach areas. We are currently contracted on projects through 2018. Position: Traffic Signal Technician Apprentice
Category: Permanent Non-Exempt Full Time
Schedule: 7:00 am — 5:30 pm+ Monday-Thursday Overtime if required by Management
Reporting Structure: Crew Foreman/Project Manager
Pay Range: $12 – $18 / hr.
The field of traffic control is rapidly evolving. Traffic control and monitoring devices are becoming increasingly complex. The potential candidate must be capable of performing multiple tasks. We are looking for candidates that are interested in a hands-on approach to learning traffic optimization. This position would work with manufacturers, installers, and crews to gain experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of traffic control systems and devices. Devices include traffic controllers, static and video monitoring devices, fiber optic networks, and display signs.
Appropriate candidates would be provided training to advance through various levels of ISMA certifications including; Mobilization of Traffic, Traffic Signal Technician I, II, and III. Training would also be available from various manufacturers of traffic controllers, video detection equipment, fiber optic networks, and intelligent control systems.
Ideal candidates would have experience in programmable control systems, fiber optics, or electrical control systems. They must also want to work in an outdoor environment.
Education – Preference for candidates who have a minimum of an associate or technical degree in a related technical field.
Experience – One year of experience in electrical or communications control, construction, maintenance, and repair.
Safety Conscious – Must be able to works safely and encourage safety first attitude. Must be capable of lifting 50 pounds without limitations.
Travel – Must be willing to commit to overnight travel throughout Florida.
